The Pittsburgh Independent Media Center will be holding two
clean-up-and-repair sessions at its new home in Project 1877
(www.1877.org), 4805 Penn Ave. in Garfield. Friday, March 7 and Saturday
March 8 IMC volunteers will be meeting around 11 am to work on the new
office and computer area. On Saturday at 1 pm a volunteer coordination
meeting will be held to orient new IMC volunteers and begin to work out a
staffing schedule for the IMC space.

The IMC is dedicated to democratizing the media system by empowering each
and every citizen to make media herself. We believe that the vested
interests of the mass corporate-run media outlets are anti-democratic and
are not in the interest of a free society. We instead propose that it is
the right and responsibility of each citizen to report what goes on around
her.

The Pittsburgh IMC is opening its office along with a public computer bank
in conjunction with Project 1877 as part of its efforts to enable all
members of the public to publish their media. In the future the IMC hopes
to involve video production equipment and other resources as part of the
space.
