The Pittsburgh Independent Media Center announces a preview screening of
"The People, United: A Pittsburgh Anti War Retrospective," a documentary
about the anti-war convergence that brought 5,000 people to Pittsburgh
to protest the impending Iraq War in January of 2003.
With assistance from the Cleveland Independent Media Center and footage
compiled by hundreds of IMC volunteers across the world, the documentary
offers a look at the anti-war movement that is unavailable anywhere
else. The documentary also features a soundtrack that includes music by
local punk musicians Anti-Flag.
The screening will be accompanied by other local anti-war footage, and
is free and open to the public. A $3 donation is requested and
pre-orders for a VHS or DVD copy of the documentary will be taken.
The screening, co-sponsored by the Carnegie Mellon University
Progressive Student Alliance, will take place in Carnegie Mellon
University's Porter Hall 100 at 7:30 PM on Saturday, January 24th -- the
one-year anniversary of the protests.
