[IMC-Process] Belgium: proposal

We think it's only fair to be able to continue our work as one of the 
imc's in Belgium. Therefore we would like it if the local imc's respect
imc-belgium as an autonomous imc, just like we do in relation to them. The
first step to be made is the mutual acceptance of the existence of each
other. 
Like we've said before, we believe it's time to accept the fact that 
there are differences of opinion on what indymedia is or should be, even
if we all subscribe to the PoU.
We also believe it's perfectly possible to work  together in some
fields/occasions/actions etc. imc-be is pro  collaboration on a voluntary
basis, with no strings attached. 

The  syndication site: we have no problem with idea tha some imc's in
belgium are building such a website, be it at a new url, and not at
belgium.indymedia.org . We think it's normal that a new imc project 
chooses a new url, instead of taking the one from an existing and working
collective. (be.indymedia.org / belgie.indymedia.org /
Belgique.indymedia.org / ...) 

We fully support the idea of a local mediator. 
We  proposed people in the past: David Dessers/BSF, Hans 
Lammerant/Bomspotting, and there are others in Belgium who might be
willing to do this with whom all us  would feel comfortable. We didn't get
a reaction from the local imc's to  those proposals. 
Laila (imc-sweden) writes that we didn't agree with a former mediation
proposal of imc-sweden because of a lack of trust. We can only  confirm
that this lack of trust still exists today (see for instance:

which was sent right after imc-liege requested our disafilliation). Laila
claims that all links to the local IMC's in Belgium are removed, this is
factual untruth as we have a city list (like most IMC's) that includes all
the IMC's in Belgium.
We insist on the idea of a local mediator (living in Belgium) and on
somebody with who'm we all feel comfortable. 


Reading imc-brasil's e-mail, we want to clarify some things. There are 
different imc projects in belgium: belgium, antwerpen, Liege, wvl & ovl.
The disafilliation request made by imc-liege, is the request of two  local
imc's  in Belgium, yet there are 5 active imc's in Belgium. 
Imc-belgium (a collective that works nationally) wants to continue working
as a national multilingual autonomous imc. (Belgium is much smaller than
the San Paolo area) 
So it's really not a matter of an imc wanting to 'dissolve' itself (for
which, as imc-brasil writes, no disafilliotion request would be
nessecary), It's a  matter of two imc's wanting to kick another out of the
network.

We denken dat het niet meer dan eerlijk is dat we ons werk kunnen verder
zetten als één van IMC's in België.  Daarom zouden we op prijs stellen dat
de local IMC's belgium.indyùedia.org zouden respecteren als een autonoom
IMC, neit zoals wij dat met hen doen.  De eerste stap die moet gezet
worden is het wederzijds aanvaarden van elkaar als deel van het indymedia
netwerk.
We gaven al eerder aan dat het nu maar eens tijd wordt dat we aannvaarden
dat er verschillende meningen zijn over wat indymedia al dan niet is, ook
onderschrijven we allen de PoU.
We denken ook dat het perfect moet mogelijk zijn op bepaalde terreinen /
acties/.... IMC_be is voor samenwerking op vrijwillige basis zonder
voorwaarden.

Het syndication project
We hebben geen probleem met de idee dat een aantal IMC's in belgië werken
aan een syndication website, weze het op een nieuwe url en dus niet op
belgium.indymedia.org.  We denken dat normaal is dat een nieuw indymedia
project voor een nieuswe url kiest en dus niet de url steelt van een
bestaand en actief collectief. (be.indymedia.org, belgië.indymedia.org,
belgique.indymedia.org zijn maar enkel van de vele opties)

We ondersteunen tenvolle de idee van een locale mediator.
We stelden in het verleden reeds enkel mensen voor : Hans lammerant
(bomspotting), David Dessers (BSF) an er zijn zeker meer mensen in België
die allen voldoende vertrouwen en waarderen.  We krgen welliswaar nooit
enig antwoord van de andere IMC's in belgië op die voorstellen.
Laila van IMC-zweden schrijft dat we vorig voorstel van IMC-zweden van de
hand wezen omwille van een gebrek aan vertouwen.  We kunnen alleen
bevestigen dat er weldeglijk een gebrek aan vertrouwen is was dat er
vandaag nog steeds is. (lees bijvoorbeeld Laila's maail naar IMC Liege
nadat deze hun voorstel tot dissafiliation vertuurden :

Laila beweert ook dat alle links naar de locale IMC's zouden verwijdert
worden van belgium.indymedia.org website, dit strookt niet met de
realiteit daar er op belgium.indymedia.org een cities list staat die
verwijs naar ale actieven IMC's in België.
We staan op de idee van een locale mediator (iemand die in België leeft)
en op het feit dat we hem/haar allemaal moeten vertouwen.

Na het lezen van de mail an Brasillië lijkt het ons nuttig ekele
verduidelijkingen te maken.  Er zijn in België verchillenden IMC's actief:
belgium, antwerpen, liege, ovl &n wvl.  Het oorstel van Luik is de
aanvraag van twee IMC's in België ook al zijn er vijf.
belgium.indymedia.org (een collectief dat nationaal werkt) wil blijven
werken als een nationaal een meertalig en autonoom IMC. (België is kleiner
dan San Paolo)
Het aat dus niet over een IMc dat zichzelf wil ontbinden (waarvoor
inderdaad geen procedur tot uitsluiting nodig is).  Het gaat over twee
locale IMC's die een ander collectief willen uitsluiten.
