Trying to join as the IMC JAPAN rep for the global list...very
confusing...Have already joined (been told they were appropriate)--->
Imc process/imc asia pacifi/imc communication (why do we need to join all
these PLUS GLOBAL!!! We have so fe volunteers as it is and this may become
a burden on me, but I will try)
sorry i forgot to tell you that the Global IMC list consensed last March
of 2005 to get rid off Lurkers and non-imc Trolls.
to subscribe Global IMC lists, you have to answer these questions:
1. your name/nick and email
Paul Arenson (arenon or tokyoprogressive is ok as username)
2. your location and with which IMC do you work?
Japan-Japan
3. specific roles/tasks you take up in your local collective or tools you
may have developed that might be usefull for broader help/support of new
collectives like facilitating meetings, conflict resolution procedures,
translation teams, feature teams etc...
We are a small collective with active participation from a handful of people
in tokyo and Osaka mainly, but also a voluteer from Manila now in Tokyo.
One of us is involed in By Nothing Day and another (me0 edits tokyo
Progressive).
We are trying to attracxt more users/readers/volunteers and the bilingual
nature of the list/site is a challenge to the many monolingual volunteers.
I am somewhat bilingual....but reading sucks.
Like many IMCS we have a strong anarchist spirt, or should I say autonomous,
but I, for one, am advocating that in trying to be better than the sectarian
left, we should not exclude anyone, that all left people should feel welcome
to comee, to post, to read, to try to make an inter-left loosely knit group
of people who support imc principles.
I also perosnally feel much that is called anarchism tends to be
rommanticized and that the word means so much to so many that it is not a
very good descriptive word....trying to hep the group avoid creating its own
NEW sectarianism based on labels...a major probnlem with our features is
that they too often tend to be mired in our own tendency to use terms like
fascist or anarachsit very loosely.
We are also sstruggling with how loose or strict o be about nonsense
posts.....
4. language(s) you speak?
ME?
Englkish, some French, Some Danish, Japanese (not so good at reading, but
conversant)
5. which new collectives have you assisted, you currently assist, or you
are willing to assist in future?
Willing to assist especialy asian startups, though we are severely strained.
Our tech person is one...and he also does ZNET Japan and other projects...
6. What do you see as your contribution to new collectives and the new-imc
working group? General support, special skills, technical skills, ideas
etc?
All as much as we can. And to learn from others.
7. Anything else you find important to share with the rest of this working
group?
Not sure yet....I work a 50-60 hour week and do this when I should be
sleeping...we all are like that I am afraid.
