Hi,

Thanks for your message. We find the proposal of IMC Ireland interesting.
However, here is our position following discussions within our collective:

As you know, we certainly share your concerns and even in the context of the
very tough new French legislation are staying strong to our commitment to
the protection of all our contributors.

However, we feel that both a commitment to protection of the privacy and
anonymity of individuals and transparency as concerns the functionning of an
IMC of the network are already part of the principles that bring us together
(notably the 3rd, 4th and 6th principles).

Our concern, in the context of the current legal situation in our country,
as in many other countries, is that this proposal elevates precise
technical aspects into general principles. Autonomy and the ability of
local collectives to organise and manage themselves will be very limited
by this proposal.

Obviously, we are all very committed to the existing principles, and feel
that drafting more of them is unnecessary and may even be
counter-productive to action.

Cheers,
Paris IMC

PS For those who are interested in the question, you may find it useful to
consult our document (« ICT, dura lex » on our site:
http://paris.indymedia.org/article.php3?id_article=46317) on the
implications of the new legislation on the digital economy in France,
which we have translated into English for you.

---FR---
