While this agreement means that no affiliated Imc from the Indymedia UK
network should stand in the way of the New Imc application of any new
group forming as a result of the fork, the success of any such
application was not made conditional to the fork.

Such a condition would infringe in the independence of the New Imc
process. No Imc or individual liaison can have the power to guarantee a
successful outcome.

Imc Bristol, Northern England, Nottingham, London and affiliated
individuals have agreed to not go through New Imc and attain an
indymedia.org domain for our syndication site at the moment, due to the
time constraints of the fork. We will be setting up our syndication site
at a different domain for the time being. This option is also available
to the Mayday collective.

The IMC UK Network set up in 2003 as the then UK site decentralised
itself and consists of all the indymedia groups in the UK that were
using the IMC UK Mir website as common reporting space (apart from
Bristol that has always maintained separate site), having sub sites
dedicated to each region. Over the past few years there has been an
attempt to move to a more local set of sites aggregating to a UK page.

archived on or before 1st May 2011 - which continues to be run by the
whole network)

At the Bradford meeting, Sheffield handed out a statement. As parts of
it were already quoted on the New-Imc list, we would like to clarify
that, while the statement handed out to people at the meeting, it
represents the opinion of Sheffield alone.

h2. Indymedia Reino Unido a bifurcarse

Desde hace algún tiempo ha estado teniendo lugar un proceso doloroso
para intentar resolver conflictos dentro de Indymedia UK (Reino Unido).
En la reunión de Indymedia UK celebrada en Bradford en diciembre de
2010, todxs lxs presentes decidieron que la única opción para avanzar es
bifurcarse y seguir por caminos separados. Ésta fue una decisión muy
triste y difícil de tomar para muchxs que habían puesto, durante muchos
años, esfuerzo y pasión en el proyecto desde que comenzó en 2000.

La página Web de Indymedia UK será entonces archivada tal y como está
ahora, el 1 de mayo de 2011 o antes. La publicación de nuevas noticias
será deshabilitada, pero los archivos de 10 años de información sobre
los movimientos para la justicia social serán preservados y accesibles
para el futuro.

Una "página splash" será puesta en los dos dominios indymedia.org.uk y
uk.indymedia.org, con enlaces a los archivos de Indymedia UK. Esta
página enlazará a bethemedia.org.uk, una página aggregadora resulado de
la cooperación de los IMCs de Bristol, Londres, Norte de Inglaterra y
Nottingham, y voluntarios que trabajan en el sitio de IMC UK. También
enlazará a otro nueve sitio web creado y mantenido por el colectivio
Mayday, compuesto por los voluntarios restantes de IMC UK.

Ningunos de los grupos existentes o de nueva formaciónes se llamará
Indymedia UK (Reino Unido).

Estamos deseando montar nuestro aggregador, proporcionando noticias
desde las calles y construyendo nuevos lazos entre los colectivos
radicales mediáticos, así como seguir proporcionando cobertura de las
diferentes luchas por un mejor futuro durante esta crisis del
capitalismo contemporaneo. Esperamos que este nuevo paso en la
descentralización anime a que se creen nuevos Indymedias locales y
estamos deseando trabajar con ellos, compartiendo nuestras habilidades,
y beneficiándonos de las suyas.

Nos duele ver a Indymedia UK desaparecer, pero esta situación se ha
convertido en necesaria para así poder centrarnos en activismo mediático
en vez de largas trifulcas internas. También estamos entusiasmadxs de
ver cooperaciones nuevas y de ver nuevos proyectos de Indymedia
florecer, asi como de las nuevas herramientas tecnológicas para poder
cubrir lo que está sucediendo realmente en las calles de una manera mas
real y directa. Mientras que esto es un paso triste, es también un nuevo
principio.
