BANGON CONDEMNS BOMBINGS,
CALLS ON NATION TO PRAY FOR PEACE

Rev. Dong Cucio, deputy director-general of Bangon Pilipinas, issued this 
brief statement on behalf of Bro. Eddie Villanueva and the movement's 
national directorate:

We join the Filipino people in expressing both sadness and outrage over the 
bomb blasts in Makati, General Santos and Davao cities that caused injuries 
and death of many, and destruction of property.

We call on every Filipino to turn to Almighty God as we seek Divine healing 
for the speedy recovery of those who were injured and for comfort to the 
families of those who lost their lives.

All God-loving and patriotic Filipinos should continue to pray and work for 
peace and justice.

These acts of violence will not stop the Feb. 16 prayer rally against the 
VAT rate hike to be led by Bangon Pilipinas and the "Magkaisa 
Kontra-KulimVAT" alliance.  Unjust and immoral tax increases will worsen 
the violence of poverty that harm our people everyday.
