Jerry as I recall Les Blank made a lot of stuff for the
U.S.I.A. and it couldn't be shown in the U.S. At one time
he had a studio/film school over a radical bar on San Pablo
Avenue in Berkeley (Anastazi or some name like that?) and
a lot of his filmmaking was rolled there.
One Les Blank movie about a small redneck town (it could
have been Silver Springs) with a black lady operating the
local auto wrecking yard, never left my memory. At the end
of the film the two main characters having discovered their
love were compacted together inside a garbage truck.
Ah-ha! Very surreal cinema. Hal.
