Hey you nut gatherers,

Today was another high paced productive day. It is true that we have been
meeting with many contractors, the past two days getting insight to the work
that needs to be done and who can do it. It is wonderful when others can be
there to absorb the information and help make sense of it. it becomes
information overload. thanks bob and Luke for doing that today!! However
there IS LOTS of cleaning and garbage removal to do and ways we can work
with the more skilled workers to haul, pull and carry debris. Also whoever
can be around to talk to neighbors and invite folks in for tours and sharing
our project and getting ideas and interests from the neighbors would be
amazing. there are really infinite "things" to do and ways to engage once
you are at the space. even stoop sitting and looking cool is in high demand!

some updates today!
today we spent hours cleaning behind the bar area! it looks amazing now!
thanks Angie!

We spent some time in the kitchen getting the bigger pieces Thanks Andrea!

Andy opened the bar room windows! yay light and fresh air!

Tom another contractor came by and spoke to us about the plumbing and doing
the bathrooms. so he will be doing a competing bid for that work along with
Kenny who i called to encourage to submit us his proposal by Monday in time
for our meeting.

We had the certified fire extinguisher Kitchen hood company guy come out. He
projected that to have a hood 1 system would cost around 3 grand. he is
going to send me a write up in time for our meeting Monday.

we applied for our garbage bin from the city today. hopefully it comes
tomorrow. we have lots of garbage to empty!! Thanks Luke for helping with
this!! It is going to cost 70 dollars every three months for a 6 yard bin
and 43 dollars every time we call and have it emptied. this is a good place
to start and we can consider renting a larger dumpster for the big projects
once the ceiling and roof, floors and walls come out that will be coming
out.

We had great great show of support from friends today! kim and heather
brought us a cookie cake that said "congratulations flying squirrel!", they
gave us a gift card to home depot, bought us industrial size garbage bags
(we needed desperately) and brought a hand broom and dust pan. My one
friend friend kim kept saying "i love your nut house! congratulations!"

friends came by with their kids and kids played soccer and rolled hula hoops
and jumped through them. the kids loved it there and enjoyed the cake party!

oh we also got a big big check from squirrel LOU! thanks lou! hope to see
you in the nest soon! hugs

FRIDAY LINE UP!

Russel from ARM who is a hazardous waste material worker is going to come
out and look at how to deal with the asbestos in the basement. he is coming
arnd 10:30

Our city electrical inspector is coming at some unknown time.

Greg a potential roofer is coming at noon.

Tony the energy auditor is coming at 2pm.

Fred from RCIL (roch center for indp. living) is coming at 1pm to give us a
building accessibility audit

I will be calling tomorrow about the possibility and cost of renting a steam
cleaner or hiring someone to clean the kitchen with one. that is the
recommend way to get all the grease off.

Also a great neighbor Kevin (the funny guy with the dog, that calls us the
hippie commune) works in insurance and gave me a contact today to someone
that deals with commercial spaces. i will call her tomorrow and get
information.

BIG FUN NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clarissa jazz club wants to do a fundraiser
for us! at the jazz club providing music food and giving us all the money
they get! I spoke with Cinnamon the manager of the jazz club she is REALLY
psyched about our project full of energy and ideas! we thought a good date
would be the first Saturday after the Clarissa st reunion. on August 22nd so
we can promote it at the reunion and get folks to come out! so exciting.

Also my friend heather called home depot for us and found out they have
materials to donate we just have to send them a business form letter and ask
for stuff. i would like to get that out soon! dry wall, paint, cleaning
stuff, whatever....

who is going to be around Saturday and Sunday to work at the space??? many
people will want to come in and help those days that normally work week days
and we can have lists up of the work that needs to be done, I cant be around
much Saturday or Sunday. can we come up with shifts to cover those days???

Lastly LETS start having as many of our other meetings at the space as we
can! there are usable clean fresh spaces now! we can get some chairs. the
air is much much better!

see you all tomorrow!
hugs
the masked and goggled squirrel
