Re: History of events after the first big mtg in January
It looks like I probably won't be able to make it to the mtg tonight, but maybe I can make a contribution by running down what I know about what has transpired since that first big mtg.
The Jan. 24 mtg ended by setting a date for the next mtg on Feb 7 at the same SEIU hall location.
The Feb 7 meeting was convened on time by Jim Vanderveen, who by consensus was doing the facilitating at that time. It was attended by eleven persons, including Jim, myself, Emily Chen, Dan Brunocardi, Shontae, plus six others I've not had any contact with before or since. (I have email addresses for five of them; presumably they still sub to the list --?)
Decisions taken can be seen at http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcSacramento.
More useful than knowing the decisions might be seeing what questions the group was trying to resolve.
It was decided to meet again on Sat Feb 28, same place, 3PM again.
But a few days before the 28th, Jim was informed by SEIU that the hall would not be available for our use, because of some big SEIU "emergency basis" event which had been hurriedly scheduled for that day. So it was decided to meet at the Sac Peace Action/Zapatista Coalition conference room at 909 12th St.
Then at the very last minute, Jim Vanderveen emailed that he had an urgent matter to attend to and he couldn't chair the mtg. He asked for a volunteer to take over; Emily Chen volunteered & was accepted several people.
So on Sat 28 Feb, Mario Galvan, Fritts from Sierra College, another Zapatista activist (whose name escapes me -- creeping senility strikes) and myself gathered at the Peace Action office. But Emily, who had the agenda, didn't appear.
It turned out that she hadn't got the word on the change of venue, so went to the SEIU hall. Nobody showed up, so she went home.
So another mtg was set in March -- but it seemed Jim Vanderveen had a lot of pressing priorities so it was agreed to wait until he got them dealt with, at which time he would convene another mtg.
That time never came. That's where things sat until Mike Rhodes started emailing to the list about trying to revive some activity in Sacto.
That's how I remember it; probably others can supply some details I forgot or wasn't privy to.
I don't know what's become of Jim; he was our most knowledgeable person and an effective meeting facilitator. I believe Emily is out of town for the summer; I haven't heard from her for a cpl months. The Food Not Bombs people would probably know.
I hope the above will be at least slightly helpful -- if anyone has any further questions, don't hesitate to email or call, & I'll do my best to answer.

I'm sure there are other topics to be discussed, but I haven't got input
from others. One thing that is a drag for people is to have a mtg go on
forever without focus. Soo, more input from those on the list currently,
the better. Will make things go smoother.
