Saturday, January 8 ~ 2:30pm
PPJ Free Film Series
Downtown Library, 4th Floor Meeting Room
"Coverup: Behind the Iran Contra Affair"

Coverup exposes several of the most disturbing chapters in the history of U.S.
covert foreign policy. It presents a tale of politics, drugs, hostages, weapons,
assassinations, covert operations and the ultimate plan to suspend the U.S.
Constitution. Coverup was the first film to reveal the 'October Surprise'
hostage deal (the Reagan/Bush campaign deal with Iran to delay the release of
the 52 American hostages until after the 1980 election), and is the only film
which presents a comprehensive overview of the most important stories
suppressed during the Iran Contra hearings. It is the only film that puts the
entire Iran Contra affair into a meaningful political and historical context.
The 1988 film Is updated with information from recent court cases and events,
reconfirming much of the material presented.

Grant-writing for Entry-Level Non-Profit Employees Workshop
Feb 9 - April 20
Offered by the Community Writing Center and the Utah Arts Council to
organizations in the Salt Lake area
Begins on Wednesday, February 9th and meet six times*--every other
Wednesday--until April 20th.
Each meeting will be from 3:00 to 5:00pm and will meet at the Community Writing
Center (511 W. 200 South, SLC). *(There will also be a required orientation
for the workshop on Wednesday, February 2nd, from 3:00-5:00pm.)
This workshop will teach participants how to research funding sources, collect
information for a proposal, write each section of a grant, establish a budget
and put the whole proposal together. Each participant will research and write
a complete grant for a specific project for his/her organization. Writing
teams will be established during the first meeting, and you will work with that
team to provide feedback, support and networking resources throughout the
workshop.

Participants in this workshop must meet the following criteria:

--Can not have been the lead writer on a grant in the past

--Must be employed by a non-profit organization with official 501c3 status (If
space allows, we can accommodate other types of organizations, such as
governmental.)

--Must be able to attend all meetings

--Must have the approval from the organization’s director, and a project for
which they can seek funding

The fee for this workshop is $300. However, one-third of that fee will be
reimbursed upon completion of the workshop. Also, another one-third will be
reimbursed if the grant written during the workshop is funded. In other words,
it is possible to receive fourteen hours of instruction for only $100.

The registration deadline for this workshop is January 20th. However, we will be
registering participants on a first-come, first-served basis and the space is
limited. Please get your registration in now to reserve your spot!

SPREAD THE WORD ~ FORWARD THIS CALENDAR TO EVERYONE!

DISCLAIMERS:
I am a volunteer who puts out this calendar. I am an excellent speller
and**very** fast typist, with my mind often thinking faster than my fingers!
Please forgive any overlooked misspellings, typos, etc. Spell-check is not part
of my routine, except when writing formal letters and creating pages on the
website. Even then, spell-check and grammar check do not catch everything. If
you send this calendar on to other folks, please check for such errors and
correct them if needed.
