AVALON ISLE, Women's Theatre Group, the first and only feminist theatre
company in Utah, is proud to ammounce our first production," Desdemona, A
Play About a Handkerchief", by Pulitzer Prize Winning Playwright Paula Vogel
at the Utah Center for Arts on 2191 South 300 West in Salt Lake City.
This full-length comedy/drama presents a Desdemona different from the
helpless wife and victim that audiences have come to know through William
Shakespeare's play "Othello". While deconstructing and re-inventing
Shakespeare's play about the tragic Othello, Paula Vogel uses suggestive
tongue-in-cheek humor to raise serious questions as to the role of women
through the ages. The comic twists and turns so common to Shakespeare are
still there and the audience will be treated to a different and provocative
side of a thought-provoking play about women. If you are a fan of the
popular play "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern" by Tom Stoppard you will love
Avalon Isle's production of "Desdemona, A Play About A Handkerchief"!
All performances will be held at the Utah Arts Alliance, 2191 South and 300
West on the following dates: October 22nd and 23rd at 7:30 p.m., October
30th at 7:30 p.m., October 31st at 7:00 p.m., November 5th and 6th at 7:30
p.m., November 13th at 7:30 p.m., and November 14th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are
$10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students and seniors. This production is
recommended for mature audiences.

SPREAD THE WORD ~ FORWARD THIS CALENDAR TO EVERYONE!
DISCLAIMERS:
I am a volunteer who puts out this calendar. I am an excellent speller
and**very** fast typist, with my mind often thinking faster than my fingers!
Please forgive any overlooked misspellings, typos, etc. Spell-check is not
part of my routine, except when writing formal letters and creating pages on
the website. Even then, spell-check and grammar check do not catch
everything. If you send this calendar on to other folks, please check for
such errors and correct them if needed.
