Dear Indy Media Newsreal people,
I am writing to invite one of you to participate in a radio interview on
citizen journalism for our nationally syndicated, hour-long program, /A
World of Possibilities, /produced by the Mainstream Media Project. The
program's format includes a national and global focus, with a diverse
range of voices and perspectives integrated throughout.
In an era of skepticism and suspicion toward traditional media and its
captivity to special interests, new media outlets such as the internet,
late-night comedy, bloggers, podcasters, and citizen journalists with
cell phone cameras, camcorders and digital audio recorders are capturing
vital new footage, and the eyes and ears of a quickly growing audience.
While the proliferation of new sources can be a leveling and
democratizing force, new questions arise regarding sources, bias, and
how a news consumer can attain a balanced perspective. This program will
examine these and related questions in depth with a range of
individuals. We would like to interview someone from Indymedia,
preferably based outside the US, who can speak about TV, video and
citizen journalism.
You would be speaking with Mark Sommer, host of /A World of
Possibilities /and Executive Director of the Mainstream Media Project,
by telephone for approximately 30-40 minutes. I am working to schedule
interviews between today and February 14, 2006. Please let me know if
you are interested in participating and if possible please provide
several dates and times when you are available for an interview.
Thank you for your time.
