To whom it concerns:
Hi, I am intending to produce a video documentary report of people taking
action to achieve progressive social justice.
This will take the form of some UK University students attempting to form an
autonomous Union of sorts, in deference to the established network of
Students' Unions, which promote corporate capitalist ideals.
The intention is to document the use of Rights, in a campaign which hopes to
obtain college support, premises and equipment, to instigate and maintain a
place of free thought with access to non-corporate information sources.
You get the idea? Essentially using college resources to start a centre of
independence, perhaps with a view to setting up Indymedia York. If we film
it, then perhaps the idea will take off nationwide via the newsreal network.
However I am using a course module entitled "working in Film and TV
industry" to get the time and equipment for the project. They would prefer
that I spend three weeks as a gofer at the BBC for example, but in order to
manipulate the system, i have stated that my preferred career is as an
independent media activist, and as such, making a documentary for NewsReal
is my 'work experience'.
Please get back to me with an opinion, but until then the project is going
ahead.
- I am sure I will be able to continue blagging the project into reality
over the coming months, but one thing i will be asking in my next email
concerns a 'learning agreement' from the college which my 'employer' needs
to see, discuss and sign with a company stamp etc. What would be greatly
appreciated is that when i distribute this film I could maybe meet a member
of IndyMedia who can then quickly sign that basically, yes, i did good for
the company. That's about the size of it, and it would help the project
enormously.
Thanks for your time, I hope to hear from you soon.
