[imc-scotland-discussion] Solution for the server problem

Hello,
I just finished with my last jobs, so I am willing to spend some time
to fix things, for the next 5 days till Monday I travel back home.
So:
(a) If there is somebody needed to do the migration and Micah is still
too busy, I could offer doing it. What I would need is access to the
database dump and any include files we might be using.
(b) As far as I can understand there is no new host available, and
getting the one that has been proposed will take some time. Is that
right? So, I think I can repeat what I said as a backup solution in
our meeting two months ago: to ask from IMC-Athens to offer some space
in their collocation server. They have a good bandwidth and a powerful
system and they have no running expenses for the bandwidth. The server
doesn't log IPs and is absolutely protected by Police raids, the only
problem is that it might go offline occasionally for a few hrs. There
is already a testing Dada running there, I think we can use it to
spped things up.
I am pretty sure they will accept to host us temporarily until our new
host is ready. IMC Valencia is already hosted there.
(c) I really think it has to be done immediately, and this is why I
propose this solution.
- I think the cost of the website being offline is way more than the
time I would spend to migrate the server twice (to the temporary and
to the new one).
- The INC will be issued in two days or so, and people will get a URL
that will not be working.
Please reply fast!
