MINUTES - 28/09/06

VENUES FOR "I" FILM -

it was agreed at the meeting that the film would be shown twice in
edinburgh. on sunday 15th october at the quaker meeting house - 7.00 start.
also, on monday 16th october at the forest cafe, starting at 7.30.

regarding the quaker meeting house, the booking has now been confirmed for
sunday the 15th of october from 7.00-10.00, and we also have a provisional
booking for the THE FORUM on sunday the 19th of november from 7.00-9.00.
action points -

mike z is getting his friend to make a poster for the "i" film events, and
will also contact the film-makers about accomodation and any other of their
needs. if translation is required gandalf has said that he may be available
to assist on the sunday night.

mike v has checked photocopying costs and estimates 70 A3 and 70 A4 posters
will cost £8.40. mike z has said his freind may be able to get some done for
free. we will need willing workers to get them out before the event.

neil has agreed to take care of projector, amp, speakers etc. i can also
make up a rough schedule of the night, to go out on the list later on.

stalls will be provided by akpress? edinchiapas solidarity group, ACE?

we should make sure that plenty of indymedia/INC literature is available on
the night, possibly including print-off's from recent articles on the
website?

ulla, are we right in saying that you're happy to organise the event at the
forest? let me know if you need any help, especially with posters, publicity
etc

TRAINING DAY -

there will be a training day at infosees, downstairs in the forest, at 2.00
this sunday, october the 1st. the training day is aimed particularly at
people who are already users, and who want to extend the their knowledge of
the site. mika will definitely be there, and tom may be as well. there was a
suggestion that it might be good to tie in another one of these events after
the "i" film screening, possibly aimed more at those who want to learn how
to use the site for the first time - do mika or tom think this is a good
idea?

gandalf also made the suggestion that there could be a workshop or traing
day in journalism. most people thought it a good idea, but no-one felt they
had the time to do it at the moment. maybe for the future?

SERVER UPDATE -

mika wasn't present last night to update, but everyone present acknowledged
the good work he'd done in getting the site back up and running. a further
discussion on the server will have to wait until the next meeting.

EDITORIAL DUTIES ON THE SITE -

there was further discussion about sharing duties on taking care of the
site. nothing concrete was decided, but it was felt that it would be a good
idea for those who have been undertaking the task so far, to put out a brief
description of duties in tending the site, and give a sense of how long this
will take on the average day. is someone willing to do that? it was also
suggested that this could be further discussed on the training day if there
is time.

INK -

we have set a deadline of october 31st for submission of articles to INK
(correct me if i'm wrong with that mike.z).

ideas so far included

article from aberdeen about campaign against airport expansion
article from aberdeen about climate change demo on 4th november
interview with bob about his 'glasgow user manual' website
http://www.glasgowusermanual.com/
interview with "i" film-makers about film and situation in argentina
article about waterfront gentrification in edinburgh at leith and granton
article about ACE, and its rebirth
regular column by whistleblowers about working conditions under new labour
councils - potentially this month's could be about community education
(childrens and families unit, as it's now known).

plenty more ideas required - get your thinking caps on, and try to get
others involved in writing articles for INC.

NEXT MEETING - 26/10/06. 26TH of october at infoseed. usual time - 7.00.

cheers, neil
