Following previous discussion, I am making a (really really brief)
summary of what I have got while following the discussions on the new
CMS project.
Since one year ago, during a techmeeting on September 06, sevefral IMC
coders got together and decided that being based on a CMS developed by
one person or two (as it has been the case so far) is completely
unsustainable. Therefore, future coding efforts should focus on existing
CMS platforms which are already based on wider developer communities and
are practically self-maintained.
Anything related to this meeting can be found here:
http://www.techmeet.org/txt/IndymediaCMS2006
while a mailing list was initiated, on which you can subscribe here:
http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/listinfo/imc-cms
Things got a bit slow and there was some slight move on the candidate
CMSs, which at the moment appear to be three: Plone, Drupal and cakephp
(mambo). A very nice summary is here :
http://www.techmeet.org/txt/CMS_Summary
Also, a small Drupal developer community has been built over a mailing
list: http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/listinfo/imc-drupal-dev
I suggest to tech people who are willing to contribute, to spend some
time getting in contact with the rest of the developing communities, so
that we can avoid double-coded things and organize better.
cheers to everybody
