There are a bunch of modules to deal with spam. This one

http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/spam
http://drupal.org/node/60891
http://drupal.org/project/captcha

I've added the last module in that list to infoseed.co.uk test site

Note that infoseed.co.uk isn't up-to-date with current progress. I can't
access the database with the mysql command. If i could i'd demonstrate
the dada import module.

Drupal people have accepted my request for CVS access, so now the
modules I have written plus the 'IMC alba' drupal install profile are
available here:

http://drupal.org/project/indymedia_alba

There aren't any releases yet. Just cvs.
