Hello,
I don't understand the assertion that participation would become 'even
more exclusive than it already is'. I think the site is better than ever
(technically and aesthetically speaking), and is more appealing to
people outside the particular counter-culture.
Regarding the discussion list, I am in favour of a web-based forum fully
integrated with the site. It would have a lower barrier to entry than a
mailing list, and could in the future be a stepping stone towards a more
lively community and the potential for electronic democracy which I have
discussed before on this list.
Remaining in the Indymedia network is not being questioned. This is a
matter of us not needing indymedia.org technical services -- it is
better to have full control of DNS, email @ our domain, etc.
