hi Mark
I am on the imc discussion list but i wasnt aware this article had been
proposed as a feature, though there could well have been an e mail to
the list and i missed it....
i have just looked at the article and the follow-up comments and would
suggest that you re-write the article as a news article, incorporating
the news about the direct action and the assault on Willie Carduff and
the excellent photos, and then i personally i think it would be good to
make it a feature.
For example rather than
"Now is the time to go to the Shell To Sea Solidarity Camp
Construction work re-started on Shell's onshore gas terminal at Glengad,
Erris, County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland, on Wednesday 22nd
April. Locals and people from the Rossport Solidarity Camp are taking
direct action against the work. Police continue to physically assault
protesters and one protester has been hospitalised by masked men. "
something like this.....
"Locals and people from the Rossport Solidarity Camp are calling on
people to join in the direct action against the construction of Shell's
onshore gas terminal in County Mayo, Ireland. Police continue to
physically assault protesters and one protester has been hospitalised by
masked men.
Construction work on the controversial project re-started on ......."
It's good to include quotes - which can be from you! (a supporter said....)
I think it would be good to stress how the high level of local involvement
The thing is, indy scot is intended to be an alternative news-site for
"the person on the internet" as well as a source of info for activists,
so its preferred to have at least the feature articles written in the
style of a news article rather than in the style of a call-out for
activists, though this in no way stops you including all of the same info
If you could do this, personally i think it would be good to have this
as a feature,
also, anyone who supports indymedia and is interested in writing/
working for it is welcome to apply to become an editor - then you could
vote on what becomes a feature yourself!
please keep contributing , we need more people posting to the site
all the best mike
