Hi Mike,
I tried emailing you as well about the S2S article on Friday, but
the email bounced back. I hope paragraphs 2,3 and 4 read more like a news
article!? I am planning to go to Erris next week for a
couple of weeks and would like to publish a longer article on
Indymedia Scotland, but it is not clear what you are actually
looking for and I am being told different things by different
people! I am going to try again and add two really good photos of the
action on Sunday to the comments of the original S2S call-out, which I
hope can be used as part of a news feature, but it doesn't seem to working
so far.

Locals and people from the Rossport Solidarity Camp are calling on people
to join in the direct action against the construction of Shell's
onshore gas terminal in County Mayo, Ireland. Police continue to
physically assault protesters and one protester has been hospitalised by
masked men.

Construction work on the controversial project re-started on Wednesday
22nd April. Shell were attempting to build a compound where the proposed
offshore gas pipeline will reach land. The fencing of the compound was
dismantled by protesters on Wednesday night at 11.30pm. Their actions
have remained non-violent, but the mainstream Irish media has tried to
spread mis-information about this incident.

Willie Corduff, who was jailed for 94 days in 2005 for refusing Shell
access to his land to lay the pipeline, was assaulted by a group of masked
Shell security guards at around 3.30 am on Thursday morning. He had been
lying under a Shell truck for several hours, preventing equipment being
used and contesting the legality of the work. Willie Corduff said, "I
thought they were trying to kill me. They beat me until I stopped moving
and I heard one of them say, 'Stop now lads, he's nearly finished.'"

On Sunday 26th April a united Erris community cut open Shell fences and
again removed nets placed by Shell to prevent nesting by Sand Martins in a
Special Area of Conservation where Shell plan to build their terminal. The
nets were then delivered bach to Shell.
