[IMC-Seattle] Space Proposal #1

Hi,

This is one of 2 proposals I have to address the Space issue.

This proposal is what I call "The No Space Option". I will explain.

I propose that we agree that for the next 6 months, we do not need a
rented space of our own. We re-examine this question in 6 months.

I feel that this is the best option. Why? We do not have any income at
this time. We have no fundraisers planned, either.

And having a space before became, IMHO, a fatal distraction. Much more
energy was expended simply trying to keep the space going, rather than
doing actual media work.

I think it also important to note that Most IMC's do not have their own
space, and have no plans to have their own space. Why is Seattle
different?
And if you follow what is happening in the few cities in North America
that do have their own space, you can clearly see that they all have the
same trouble. The space has become a Millstone around their necks. The
same issues we had, which ultimately resulted in less media work being
done, and horrible conflicts within the group. Have we not had enough of
that?

Therefore, I propose that we simply do not have a working space.

As far as the storage goes, I propose we pare down what we keep. Get rid
of the large, bulky desks, etc. We are currently paying $130 a month for
the storage. If we reduce the amount of stuff we are storing, we could
fit it into a 5 x 5 space, which rents for $25 a month. That is a savings
of $105 a month.

If we cut our expenses, we can afford to go for years without worrying
about money. But we are currently spending at a rate that will result in
us being completely broke in about 9 months. To me, that does not make
sense.

Lets focus on media making, and let someone else help pay for a landlords
mortage.
