Hey all,

I am a graduate student now, and unfortunately have hardly enough time to brush my own teeth, least bit participate in an IMC. I do not claim to have any sort of "blocking" power, etc, nor have I been involved with any part of the IMC since the end of the "hiatus." (I was involved in the editorial collective during the Hiatus.) My editorial password on the web page no longer works (and that's probably a good thing, since I am no longer active on the editorial collective.)

In general, I like the new structure suggested by Brandon et.al. However, I think working groups need to have as much autonomy as possible. (The problem where someone outside a working group walked in and blocked something in a working group of which they were not a part, has been the ultimate flaw of the Seattle IMC historically.) The main core "decision making" group for the Seattle IMC should serve the working groups, NOT the other way around.

This for example, would be a very bad thing to do with an ideal structure:

> "Stop web publishing until there is a collective"

If folks are still publishing, then there IS an editorial collective. Why attack them? What if Global Indymedia tried to shut down all of the individual IMCs while they "adopted a new structure", would this not be bullshit in the extreme? Unless there is some really major problems going on with the Editorial Collective, even if they are only 1.5 people, there is no reasonable justification for shutting it down, even temporarily, period.

(And for the record, yes, I think Global has the same relationship with individual IMCs, that individual IMCs should have with their individual working groups.)

In solidarity,
