Hi

I should have forwarded this before -- it explains all the
photos on the Shefield newswire from Kashmir and
Pakistan...

There is going to be a feature that pulls these all
together and I think it would make sense to have this on
the Sheffield front page as well...

Hi everyone,
 
I've just got back from a week long fact finding tour of
the areas affected by the October earthquake in Kashmir
and Pakistan. I went there with a delegation from
Sheffield who consisted of 5 UK Kashmiri people (council
worker,  college lecturer, restaurant manager, cab driver,
film student) and 3 locals (care worker, journo from
Rotherham Advertiser, journo from Sheffield Star). We were
all deeply shocked by what we found there and the sheer
size of the disaster.  We are equally disgusted by the
lack of coverage from the corporate media.
 
The feature will be made up of diferent accounts of places
we went to by members of the delegation. All reports will
be accompanied by pictures taken by yours truly and one of
the journos. If any can think of any good links for this
piece then please mail them to this list. It would be good
to make the feature as comprehansive as possible. I will
start putting the stuff onto the wire over the next three
days and the sit down with a techie (probably Zcat) and
make it into a feature.
 
87,000 people died in the quake but that figure could
treble when the temperature drops this month. Any ideas on
how we can raise awareness about this and the inept
response of the rest of the world would be great.
