Celia grew up on the plains in western Kansas and graduated from the
University of Kansas in Lawrence with a degree in English. She grew up
participating in her father's vaudeville theatre troupe and her stage act
certainly reflects that childhood experience. Her music is best described
as more fun than folk, containing elements of pop, rock, and
improvisational jazz cabaret. Celia's stage presence has been compared to
the likes of Bette Midler, Kermit The Frog, Arlo Guthrie, and Sarah
Hickman. Her major influences are Bruce Cockburn, Joni Mitchell, Elvis
Costello, and any good music from the 1970's. She is a host, emcee,
entertainer, and singer/songwriter that amuses audiences everywhere. Among
others, Celia has performed at The Pageant, Mississippi Nights, Blueberry
Hill, The Hi-Pointe, Fredericks, The Way Out Club, The Halo Bar, and has
monthly performances on the first Thursday of every month at Kennealy' in
Soulard.
