8pm Fri, Oct 1: MOVIE SHOWING: “OUTFOXED”
Saludos a todos,
With the excessive political excitement of recent days, we are showing a funny
yet disturbing “guerrilla documentary” this Friday night (Oct. 1) at 8
o’clock. It’s called “Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism” and
exposes the truth behind the Republican propaganda machine that is Fox News.
Following the film, Professor Davis (poli-sci) will lead a short and lively
discussion about a free and independent press as a pillar of democracy. At
the film we’ll be serving bucket-loads of fresh-popped kettle corn. The
showing and the discussion promise to be fun and entertaining, and will be
followed by a “Political Party” at the Wash U Co-op. (6021 Pershing Ave, 2
blocks east of Skinker). It’s a theme party so come to the party dressed to
impress! Also, the party is BYOC (bring your own cup). Those who don’t will
be forced to weave ten hemp bracelets before entering. So bring your friends
and meet the rest of WashU and others from the St. Louis community at Lab
Sciences 300 on main campus at 8:00pm this Friday, October 1.
Here is a little description of the film (more is available at
www.outfoxed.org):
"Outfoxed" examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, have
been running a "race to the bottom" in television news. This film provides an
in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations
taking control of the public's right to know.
