*The 5th Annual TOCO Music & Peace Festival*
*September 8th and 9th 2006*
*Benefiting the Center for Women in Transition and Restorative Justice*
*At Bearcat Getaway in **Lesterville**, **Missouri***
*TOCO: A Tapestry of Community Offerings *(www.tocofestival.com) represents
members of the community, artists, & musicians who gather to raise awareness
& funds for* important *community organizations. *This year proceeds from
the TOCO Music & Peace Festival benefit the Center for Women in Transition*.
CWIT works with, and on behalf of, women in jail/prison* for nonviolent
crimes*. The CWIT helps women during incarceration and after release to
assist in making the transition back into family and society, thereby
witnessing to the idea that a restorative approach to justice is more
effective for the women, their children, and society as a whole than is a
punitive approach.
This year* TOCO* rallies down at *Bearcat Getaway on the Beautiful Black
River*. *TOCO* offers two stages featuring some amazing local and regional
music: Madahoochi, Vitamen A, Rodney Branigan (all the way from Nashville
and strumming two guitars at once), The Bottoms Up Blues Gang, Sully,
EarthSol, Johnny Fox, Escape, Fab Foehners, The Elements, Auset, Defined
Perception, meancatmonday, Heather Barth, East End Girls, Pik'n Lik'n,
Adhahm Roland, Plum Tucker, Horshack, Wake Up Report, and Racket Box.
Supporters camp with firewood ; peruse through The Artist Caravan where a
variety of local artists will show and sell their wares; bid on a silent
auction of treasures; pick up a couple of raffle tickets and have the chance
to win lots of great prizes and a brand new autographed guitar. Visitors
also choose from a mélange of vending options. Kids get silly in the Kid's
Tent; the whole family lends a hand in the Collective Art Project;* and*,
brand new this year, enjoy the Awareness Walk where patrons, helping hands,
and not for profit groups mingle and exchange intelligent ideas. Of course,
campers can't forget the Beautiful Black River and fun in the sun all
weekend long!
*TOCO Tickets *are a $30 donation in advance and may be purchased from
participating bands, and online through Bearcat Getaway. Tickets can also
be purchased the weekend of the event: a $35 donation for both days and a
$25 donation for Saturday only. Advanced reservations are encouraged.
