	\__Notes on IMC Media Training__

Greetings:

This follows upon the eMail announcement just out, touting
our new venture:
		"KDHX-IMC_IndyJournalists' Media Training" (10 May'07)

First to say: This is an exciting pilot project, a chance to
build grassroots media skills, and to test new ideas & methods to
this end. It's an honor to be working with KDHX, good folks running
one of the best Community Radio-&-TV operations on the planet.

And we take the potentials for 'IndyJournalism' most
seriously. With the consolidation of major press & media ownership,
and the erosion of investigative reportage, Real News has to come
from somewhere... IndyMedia has to fill the breach, and St. Louis IMC
is taking the initiative.

Getting this Project underway -- it took a few weeks, a
couple meetings, and some calls, and then it went smooth & fast. Our
Proposal went in late May 8, KDHX staff met and approved it on May 9,
and we announced it at the "Midwest Mayhem" event on May 10... pretty
snappy.

What you got by eMail came straight from the 1/2-page flyer we
brought to the City Museum that night. It's also posted (slightly
modified) at the 'ReBoot' website -- "Multimedia Training for
Indy-Journalists":
	http://reboot.stlimc.org/mediatrain
Please feel free to pass along the message or the link to worthy
interested folks.

For the sake of transparency, the final Letter & Proposal
as-approved by KDHX is also posted for your reference:
"
Slightly bulky (96k) but true-to-format, this is now the working
agreement for our cooperation in this Project through the end of
2007, defining terms & performance on both sides. If you want to
plug in with StL-IMC on this, it is worth knowing what we are obliged
to do.

Finally, understand that there is a bigger agenda for IMC
training, and a further component is in the pipeline: Elements of
Reporting, methods & ethics of press journalism, how to get facts in
& stories out., maybe as a short workshop series. This seems a
natural complement to the KDHX curriculum, important in building
quality & credibility in local IndyJounalism.

RSVP... please get in touch if you want to be part of these
StL-IMC missions, or others.

		Thanks,

			_scottie a.__
