Black & Green Wednesday

FORUM: Military Spending vs. Green Jobs

WHEN: 7 pm, Wednesday, June 6, 2007

WHERE: Legacy Books and Café, 5249 Delmar (near Union)

The forum will include:

* Safiyah Chauvin, Universal African Peoples Organization [moderator]

* Don Fitz, Green Party of St. Louis

* Catherine Marquis-Homeyer, Peace Economy Project

* Michael McPhearson, Veterans For Peace, Instead of War Coalition

There is greater potential for reducing greenhouse gases from military
spending than from any other sector of the economy. Military production not only
dangerously pollutes the environment but fails to create true social wealth.

A peace economy could rebuild US inner cities. Far more jobs would be
available if military dollars were redirected to wind mill farms and other
industries to protect the planet from roasting.
