Hello All ! (BELOW: TY's, Political Art Exhibit, and Invite-activist
training DC)
First of all a big thank you to CODEPINK's Jesse Allan and Molly Sims
who coordinated a super sweet CODEPINK Meet and Greet at the Stagger
Inn in Edwardsville Illinois! Also thanks to Stagger Inn's Tim Early
and Bartender-Brad for allowing the event and taking care of us
wonderfully while we were there! Over 50 people showed up which is
outstanding for a Monday night. Jesse, Molly, and Jon were the very
talented musicians which kept the night fun; Also Tom Abellen, a
veteran and revolutionary, had words of wisdom to share, and stories
from soldier's families were read. Thanks to Steph for the reminder
that everyone with children should start a file folder proving their
child's conscientious objector status. (If anyone is interested in a
training on how to do this, I would be happy to help.)
Second I would like to recommend checking out âThad Duhigg's:
Assumptions Meditatedâ exhibition at Laumeier Sculpture Park's indoor
museum from June 8th-August 26th. This is an exhibit intended to produce
critical conversations about where we find ourselves in our politically
charged world of today. Your assignment is to invite someone who may not
share the same views as you to this exhibit and learn about how the other
sees the same world. Thad suggests checking out the website:
www.criticalthinking.org Lastly Laurie (local coordinator of CODEPINK
St.L) invites YOU to spend a week-long activist training at the CODEPINK
House in DC between mid-June and the end of July. You've seen our sisters
on TV, in action-working the halls of Congress. So if you'd like to hone
your skills as an activist, apply online at www.codepinkalert.org (I
believe it's about $150.00'ish) Hope to see you in DC so we can end this
bloody war!
PEACE!
Laurie
PS- Welcome to all of our new CODEPINK members who signed up at the
Stagger Inn! Check out our website listed below for some great ideas
from Medea Benjamin (co-founder of CODEPINK) and NOTE to all- please
email the address below if you do any actions which make the news and
we'll add the link to our CODEPINK web site's Press Room link.
