Dear Friend of CTSA,

As we enter this season of peace, the United States continues to
threaten an unprovoked war against Iran while continuing its deadly
occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Here in MIssouri the preparations for an assault on Iran are
underway. In St. Charles Boeing is building a new 30,000 pound Massive
Ordnance Penetrator bunker buster bomb. It was tested in New Mexico in
March and is scheduled for delivery by the end of the year. Just
outside Kansas City at Whiteman Air Force Base, our fleet of B-2
stealth bombers are being retrofitted to carry these new MOPs. The
target is Iran.

We have launched a new campaign, SILENCE = WAR, to help expose these
preparations and the support that our Missouri senators are providing.
In the first phase of the campaign we have written to both Senator
McCaskill and Senator Bond, asking them whether they will "take an
unprovoked military assault against Iran off the table" and whether
they will withdraw their support for these war preparations that
violate international law and the United Nations Charter.

You can read the letters here:

The next phase of the campaign will be expose others in the state who
are providing support, either by their active participation or by
their silence. We invite you to participate. Take a look at a
rudimentary website at http://www.silenceiswar.org. More details will
be posted throughout the coming week. We have bumperstickers available
(view it here: http://www.ctsastl.org/site/images/bumpersticker.jpg)
and will soon have cards that you can include with your Christmas
mailings.

In the meantime, you might want to read Chris Hedges' latest piece
"Hands Off Iran" in which he lays out the implications of an
unprovoked war against Iran.

Hedges says that he will not pay his income tax if we attack Iran,
but we'd encourage you to take part in a proactive campaign, The 2008
War Tax Boycott. In the face of ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,
and with threats against Iran, this boycott is urging all tax-paying
citizens to participate this year in whatever way you can. Details are
here:

A working group for the local Iran campaign has been meeting Saturday
mornings from 10-noon at CTSA. If you are interested in learning more,
please join us for our next meeting on December 1st. Or email Andrew
Wimmer at awimmer at newcommunities.net. Or call 314-723-4991.
