Good afternoon,
We'd like to invite you to a conversation about Gene Sharp's theory of
Nonviolent Social Change from 10AM until noon on Saturday at CTSA, 1077
S. Newstead.
Many people are familiar with Sharp's 198 tactics for nonviolent change,
but many are not as aware that the tactics are to be at the service of a
larger strategy. Sharp provides a very helpful analysis of power and
the pillars that support it. Successful nonviolent resistance,
according to Sharp, happens when we develop a strategy for withholding
our cooperation. Even the most brutal, dictatorial power relies on a
network of cooperation.
Join us to look at the threatened assualt on Iran through a Sharpian
lens. Please invite others who you think may be interested.
Yours,
Andrew Wimmer for the members of CTSA
