Dear Greater Dutchtown Residents:

There will be a conditional use hearing on October 18th at 8:30am at
City Hall for an Alternative Energy Center operated by New Life
Evangelistic Center (Larry Rice). The proposed education center would
be located at 4722 Tennessee.

In order to provide an opportunity for residents to get more
information we are hosting a community meeting at the DSCC office on
October 10, 2007 at 7pm.

Please let us know if you plan to attend by calling 352-4865.

FYI - The New Life Center is also conducting an Energy Fair on
Saturday, September 29, 2007, from 10am-2pm at 4722 Tennessee. This
may be a good opportunity to learn more about what they are planning
to do.

Rev. Rice's hearing postponed By Tim Townsend ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
09/22/2007

The Rev. Larry Rice asked the city Thursday to postpone a hearing to
temporarily rezone his property in Dutchtown from residential to
commercial. Rice plans to create a center at 4728 Tennessee Avenue
that would give homeless people skills in the field of renewable
energy and educate the public about alternative energy resources.

Rice said Friday that 25th Ward Alderman Dorothy Kirner approached
him before the Thursday hearing and said she had fielded many calls
about the center from worried residents. She asked Rice to request a
postponement so that he could take part in a Dutchtown community
meeting Oct. 10. Kirner did not immediately return a call late Friday
afternoon.

Rice agreed to Kirner's request, he said, hoping his new neighbors
would come to his next energy fair at the property on Sept. 29 to see
what he had planned for the neighborhood. The new hearing is scheduled
for Oct. 18.

Some residents of Dutchtown have said they are concerned that Rice's
proposed center would operate as a homeless shelter in their
neighborhood. Rice runs the New Life Evangelistic Center in downtown
St. Louis.
