A group called WE CAN MO! is distributing this notice about a petition
campaign underway today to end affirmative action in Missouri.
"On FEBRUARY 5th - Election Day
Today at your polling place you may be approached by people
collecting signatures for a so-called "civil rights initiative" to be
placed on the November ballot.
DO NOT SIGN THESE PETITIONS.
The petitions use tricky language to mislead voters into thinking they
are signing onto something positive in the advancement of civil rights
when in fact it will END AFFIRMATIVE ACTION in this state.
Decline to sign! Tell your friends and family!
Don't be fooled:
Join the fight to keep fairness and equality alive by defending
affirmative action.
It's called either "The Missouri Civil Rights Initiative" or "The MO
Anti-Discrimination Petition".
It is a product of Ward Connerly, a (self-hating) African American who
has passed analogous laws in CA and MI where voters were similiarly
duped into ending affirmative action in their states.
It affects not only African-Americans, but Latinos, Asians, women, gays,
disabled individuals, and veterans…and your town's economic impact.
Read the site AND it's links for some VERY interesting info. about
Connerly, the wording and how it will affect where you live,
economically.

St. Louis Jobs with Justice (www.stl-jwj.org) is also dropping by
polling places today on the lookout for Connerly's petitioners.
