Volunteer Opportunities
We are having two workdays in the next two weeks.
Garage Workday: Saturday February 16
9 AM through 1 PM
We are cleaning out the garage in order to start rehabbing it into our new office/workshop/intern space. If you have work gloves and/or trucks, please bring them!
Orchard Workday: Saturday February 23
9 AM through 1 PM
We will prune the trees in the orchard and pull up the carpet that has been harboring mosquitoes in the summertime. No experience pruning is needed! If you have work gloves or pruning tools, please bring them.
We will be working on the farm almost every Saturday through April if you would like to volunteer. Please email sara at newrootsurbanfarm.org if you plan on coming to volunteer one of those days so we know how many people to expect.
We are also looking for two interns this season. If you are interested and/or have experience in sustainable farming techniques, working with children, social justice, food preservation, etc., consider interning at New Roots this summer! More information will be posted soon on our website, and in the meantime, you can contact molly at newrootsurbanfarm.org for info.
Wishlist
We are in desperate need of a farm truck. Our '94 Ford Ranger finally bit the dust so we are searching for a new vehicle. Please contact us if anyone has a truck to sell or donate. As always, your donation can be tax-deductible.
As a part of the grant that we received from the Missouri Foundation for Health to start the North City Farmers Market, we are looking for donations of adult bicycles. We will fix them up and give away for free to residents of North City. We hope to give away 30 working bicycles by the end of the farming season.
In order to rehab our new office/workshop/intern space, we are in need of the following:
Drywall
Lumber
Skylights
Ceiling fans
Insulation
Bike hooks (for storing bikes for the North City Farmers Market)
Countertops
The farm needs:
Rubbermaid bins
Printer
Web design help
Ceramic crocks for food preservation
Fruit trees/bushes
Perennial herbs
Thanks for all the support! We are looking forward to another great season.
Love,
The New Roots Collective
