JPS Media Workshop for Activists
Saturday, January 26, 9 AM - 1 PM
(location to be announced)

Join us for the second part of the Justice and Peace Shares media
workshop. In the fall we explored ways that activist groups can access the
mainstream media. On January 26 we will shift gears and examine the
alternatives. We will begin with a look at tools we can use to become our
own news gatherers from alternative sources. We will follow that with
several introductory show-and-tell and hands-on sessions designed to give
you an overview of new technologies that make it possible for you to
produce your own media. We will cover some of the basics of audio and
video, photography, podcasting, and RSS feeds. We'll look at integrating
media into your website. You'll leave with a list of software, hardware,
and equipment to consider for your group's media production, much of it
open-source or inexpensive. You'll learn about local sources of media
production support. If you have a camera, a video camera, a laptop, or
recording equipment, bring it along.
