Upcoming Jerome Johnson Civil TrialJerome Johnson is suing the St. Louis Police Dept. and the City of St. Louis for civil rights violations relating to his original shooting by St. Louis police and the subsequent harassment which went on for years. This trial has the possibility of exposing a pattern of abuse by a broad spectrum of St. Louis law enforcement. All who are interested are invited to attend the trial, which begins January 22, 9:00 a.m. in the Eagleton Federal Courts Building. It is being held in the courtroom of Judge Perry. Most of you will remember the Jerome Johnson case. At age sixteen, he was shot seven times and survived. Police claimed that he shot at them, but newspaper investigations and eyewitness accounts discredited much of the police testimony. In 2002 Jerome was found innocent of all charges in a trial which exposed police accounts as totally impossible to accept. Before and after the trial, Jerome was subjected to constant harassment. He was arrested on a gun charge which lacked any substance. He was shot at under suspicious circumstances. His family and friends were subject to violent threats and obscene verbal abuse by police. Jerome finally succumbed to the stress and was convicted of fleeing police and weapons possession. He claims that he felt his life was endangered by police at the time.Jerome’s original exoneration was an historic event for St. Louis. This trial may well be another. It may take up to a week for all evidence to be presented. Please attend if you are able.

Fundamentals of AcroYoga 2:30-5:00 pmOpen your practice with the ease, comfort and the support of a partner. This workshop touches upon all the disciplines that AcroYoga offers, combining Yoga, Acrobatics, and Thai Massage. The class experience includes: Circle Ceremony, Mirrored Asana, Partner Yoga Flow, AssistedInversions, Basic Partner Acrobatics, Flying Sequences and Thai Massage. Grounded in th e breath, we will draw upon the natural forces of gravity and “metta” (the Buddhist notion of loving kindness) to encourage the body to let go of fear and tension. Students are requested to have familiarity with yoga. No partner necessary!LIGHT & FLIGHT: Flying Intensive 7:00-9:30 pmThis workshop builds off the three basic flying positions: Folded Leaf, High Flying Whale, and Back Leaf to create dynamic flying flows. The relationship between partners deepens as they exchange roles as flyer and base, increasing their capacity for trust and communication. The base is the partner that creates a stable platform for the flyer to explore inverted aerial asana flows. The flyer receives spinal and muscular release while the base is the recipient of Thai Massage. Students will learn a variety of therapeutic acrobatic flying sequences, including variations for more advanced AcroYoga practitioners.COST: $40 per workshop; $70 for bothChristina Friese is a Registered Yoga Instructor, certified at the 250-hour level. She loves all types of aerial performance, and is happily traveling to California this August to attend AcroYoga Teacher Training with the founders of this exciting new style of yoga.Register: Marbles Yoga Studio 314-621-4744

Your Support Counted in D.C., Now Let's Remove the Federal BanThe laws preventing D.C. from using its local funds for needle exchange to slow the spread of AIDS are history. They were struck down originally in a historic vote which removed for the first time since 1998, language in appropriations bills that prevent D.C. from using its local funds for needle exchange. It eventually became law once the Omnibus Spending bill for 2008 was signed in December. Your support and activism played a major role in getting the support of legislators necessary to make that happen. Unfortunately, the victory in D.C. is only a part of the battle and does not remove one of the key barriers to an effective health policy against AIDS that must include needle exchange.Tell Your Story of the Effect Needle Exchange Has Had on Your Life The Harm Reduction Coalition is seeking to share brief stories from individuals directly impacted by needle exchange programs with policymakers, media, and the public to support lifting the federal ban. Please, share yours here! If any junkies or ex-junkies would like to meet up to write our story please email me, parys-flytrap at hotmail.com. I am also trying to write a article for the Confluence about healing from our addictions and/or maintaining with our addictions. thanks, parys Write US Congress- Support the JUSTICE Act HRC strongly supports Congresswoman Lee's "Justice for the Unprotected Against Sexually Transmitted Infections among the Confined and Exposed (JUSTICE) Act" to help stop the spread of HIV, viral hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted infections in prisons. Join us in showing your support by sending a letter to your representative.Fight the HIV/AIDS Crisis in Puerto RicoSupport Activists Fighting the HIV/AIDS Crisis in Puerto Rico. Unidos Dándole Cara al SIDA are a group of activists in Puerto Rico, New York, Washington, Chicago, Florida and other states mounting a campaign to ask the federal government to look into the misuse of federal Ryan White funds for services and medications for people living with HIV/AIDS in Puerto Rico. As a result of a long history of mismanagement of funds in Puerto Rico, people with HIV/AIDS are not receiving medical treatment, meals, or transportation services. Agencies have not received funding that is held at the Municipio de San Juan and the Puerto Rico Department of Health causing many service providers to not get paid in 6-9 months. Many clinics in the island lack running water, fax machines, phones, computers, and other tools needed for effective work. In addition there is a waiting list for people to receive ADAP medications. Today we are asking you to join HRC, Unidos Dándole Cara al SIDA and many other organizations in this fight to restore HIV/AIDS services in Puerto Rico.

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.
It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple box "click here to give - it's free" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site!
Pass it along to people you know. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com
