Below is a message from the CTSA. As you will see, it invites
participation in an action beginning at 4PM tomorrow. Participation in
this action by no means precludes attending the informal weekly
meeting in Granite City at 7PM, (see calendar) and I encourage
everyone to attend both.

Good evening everyone, 15 people gathered in Lacy Clay's St. Louis
office this afternoon to express our surprise at his sponsorship of H
Con Res 362 that expresses the sense of the Congress regarding the
threat Iran poses to world peace. We arrived at 2:00 and by 3:00 we
were in a conference room on a teleconference with Clay. He made it
clear that he supported the resolution because it would send a clear
message to Iran that they could not continue building nuclear weapons
and destabilizing the region. We told him the resolution was dangerous
for two reasons. First, it grossly misrepresents Iran's nuclear
activity and falsely demonizes that country. Second, it "demands" that
the President take certain actions, including the establishment of a
blockade around Iran, that are either acts of war or greatly increase
the likelihood of military action. The call ended with Clay adamant
about his support of the resolution. At closing time a number of us
told the staff that we would not leave the office until the
Congressman changed his position. We had another brief conversation
with Clay and then with his chief of staff, Daryl Piggee. Mr. Piggee
assured us that he and Clay would discuss the issue tonight and
invited us to return for a second conference call on Wednesday at
4:30. Anyone who would like to join us either inside the office or
outside (Delmar and Euclid) Wednesday afternoon beginning at 4 is
welcome.
