Subject: [9-11-4] Latest news about Clay and Carnahan actions
To: 9-11-4-announce at meetup.com
The message below is forwarded from the Center for Theology and Social
Analysis. As you will see, it schedules an action this afternoon at
three at Carnahan's office at Brentwood and Manchester. Our own
monthly bannering will take place at noon today in front of CBS at 1
Memorial Drive. My own plans are to be at the bannering from noon to
two or two-thirty, then go to Brentwood and Manchester and display the
same signs I had been using downtown. I look forward to seeing as many
of you as your circumstances will permit.
Good afternoon everyone, We don't have any further news from Clay's
office. So, as things stand right now we know that he has removed
himself as a cosponsor of the resolution, but we do not have
confirmation that he intends to vote against the resolution when it
comes up for a vote. On July 9, 12 members of Congress signed on as
cosponsors of H ConRes 362 (including JoAnn Emerson) and 1 member of
Congress withdrew his sponsorship. This brings the number of
cosponsors to 231 (including 4 from MO-- Carnahan, Graves, Cleaver,
and Emerson). Lacy Clay is the only cosponsor to have withdrawn. We
invite you to join a group for a visit to Carnahan's office (Brentwood
and Manchester) on Friday, July 11, at 3PM. We will follow the same
plan we used in Clay's office on Tuesday. We will ask that Carnahan
meet with us via teleconference prior to any vote on the resolution
and will wait until we are given a confirmed time. We will leave
background information with the staff for Carnahan's review prior to
the conference. If any of you are inclined to banner outside the
office as we did throughout the Occupation Project, feel free to bring
signs. We will let you know what develops both with Clay and Carnahan.
Thanks, Andrew
