BUST is an awesome indie/feminist magazine that started off as a
'zine in the 90s. The Strange Folk Festival, in nearby O'Fallon, IL, was reffed in this month's issue, in the "Hot Dates"
column.
Here's the transcription:
September 27-28
STRANGE FOLK
Just
a stone's throw from St. Louis, MO, lies O'Fallon, IL, home to the
Strange Folk indie arts-and-crafts festival, now entering its third
year. Come for its inspiring selection of vintage fashions, home
accessories, and handmade goodies, then stay to partake in hourly
raffle drawings, an artists' trading-card swap, and other rousing
activities (last year there was a petting zoo!). Strange Folk doesn't
allow any mass-produced good through its gates, and its Web site also
promises that you won't find any "ducks in bonnets, apple baskets, or
teddy bear knick knacks… unless they are pirate teddy bears," so craft
on without fear at Strangefolkfestival.com.
