> Here's the Inside Scoop from the NAB
> the World's Biggest Trade show for the Production Industry
> Have you ever been to the annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show
> in Las Vegas? It's the world's biggest production industry trade show --
> and our panel of speakers at the May meeting of the St. Louis Media Communications Association have all been to the NAB this year. They'll give you the low-down on the latest gear, gizmos, gadgets, and gossip from the 2008 show.
> This year, for our "Post NAB wrap up," instead of asking equipment vendors
> what was new at NAB, we're asking users. We've got at least five different
> local professionals, each slated to share what they saw, heard, and did. It'll

I am concerned about the liklihood of there being no more PEG
programming throughout Missouri, or the US, based on the corporate
push for media consolidation. In the Metro St. Louis area there is
little question that it is in the process of being phased out, through
the tactic of ostensibly keeping it and ensuring that all such "public
access" programming is of the "how I filmed my great bobsled
adventure" variety.

I for one am less interested in finding out what really happens in
Vegas than in finding out where Ken Clayton, etc., 's heads are at
with regard to this situation. We could have our usual weekly meeting
and commiserate each other, or we could attend this "always hugely
popular meeting" of local media people and attempt to do some
consciousness raising and networking. Certainly, it would impress them
if we outnumbered them, wouldn't it?

All in favor of using this evening's time by actually engaging in
activism are invited to caucus (with me) at Barlow Productions.
