Amnesty International Call for Artists!
Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights!
"ART FOR HUMAN RIGHTS" Exhibit
Believe ~ Create ~ Inspire
October 24-26, Amnesty International will be hosting its Midwest
Regional Conference right here in St. Louis. Over 500 activists from
the Midwest will be inspired, educated, and learn how to work with
Amnesty to defend human rights around the world. It will be an
exciting weekend with speakers, including experienced human rights
defenders, a life-size replica of the Guantánamo Cell (touring the US
and featured on the Daily Show), a slam poetry show hosted by national
poetry slam champion and three-time HBO Def Poetry veteran Big Poppa
E, a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights, and an "ART FOR HUMAN RIGHTS" Exhibit.
We are inviting local artists of all levels from the St. Louis area to
join with us in our celebration of human rights and our continued
fight for justice and submit your human-rights themed art! It can be
a celebration of hope; a call for justice; a reflection on a
particular human right; a piece inspired by the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights itself… it is your expression of human rights!
Your art will be displayed throughout the conference, and participants
in the conference will have a change to vote on the piece that
inspires them the most. The winner will be honored as the Amnesty
Artist of Conscience. After the conference the pieces will then be
displayed at various St. Louis businesses after the conference, to
help raise awareness for human rights, Amnesty International, and to
display your passion and talent to our neighbors.
Artists please contact Tarah Demant at tarahdemant at hotmail.com or
