_Making Homes Lead-Safe and Climate Change-Affordable Project_

The “Making Homes Lead-Safe and Climate Change-Affordable” project links 
two major low income housing issues in an ethnically diverse St. Louis 
neighborhood. First, it aims to make homes lead-free without forcing 
residents to leave due to gentrification. Second, it prepares residents 
to mitigate excessive utility costs that result from climate change.

_Job Description_

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for conducting focus groups 
concerning lead poisoning and utility costs as well as helping to 
prepare public forums, newsletters, rallies, press statements, cable TV 
shows and special events. Other job duties will evolve as the project 
develops.

_Required skills_

The applicant should have demonstrated skills in the following areas:

1. At least one year experience working with low income ethnically 
diverse communities.
2. Dedication to principles of social justice and equality.
3. Familiarity with problems of childhood lead poisoning.
4. Familiarity with excessive utility costs among low and moderate 
income people and its effect on keeping or losing a home.
5. Ability to facilitate lively group discussions.

_It will be an added plus for the applicant to have any of the following 
skills:_

1. Science or social work background.
2. Familiarity with lead poisoning and/or building regulations for the 
City of St. Louis.
3. Understanding of how climate change can affect low income people.
