How can teachers, parents, students and staff work with the elected
school board to create the sort of educational system that St. Louis
should have? What has the role of the mayor been in the school system
and what should that role be?

In October 2008 parents expressed concern with lead contamination at Roe
School, the new location of the Early Childhood Center. The appointed
Special Administrative Board (SAB) said that nothing could be done.

But two days after Green Party mayoral candidate Elston K. McCowan
organized a picket against its inaction, the SAB suddenly had its
representative announce that money would be found for lead abatement.
Now that it has been four months since the problem was made public, has
the SAB removed the lead?
