*“CAFO**s and Human Health”*

People who live near Confined Animal Feeding Operations, where thousands
of animals are kept in small pens, report a high frequency of upper
respiratory ailments. CAFOs are associated with nausea, pulmonary
edema, asthma, headaches, brain damage, and the presence of pathogens,
metals, and bacteria in wells and underground water. Host Don Fitz and
Kathleen Logan-Smith of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment and
Russ Kremer of the Missouri Farmers Union discuss health problems of
CAFOs. This Green Time (No. 312) is produced by the Gateway Greens in
conjunction with KDHX. Call 314-727-8554 or contact fitzdon at aol.com for
information.
