Caravan for Cuba coming to St. Louis
At the Greens meeting last night [May 20] we planned for the Caravan for
Cuba visit on Monday July 13 at the CAMP Building (3026 Cherokee at
Minnesota).
The Caravan will be going to 130 US cities before departing to Cuba in
late July.
We anticipate someone from the Caravan will speak to the US embargo, how
it is hurting Cuba, and the need to lift it.
Carlos Jove will be providing music before and after speakers.
We could use your help in planning for other parts of the event.
We need people who have been to Cuba to talk about their experiences.
We need organizations to co-sponsor the event, bring literature and
comment briefly on the work they are doing.
We need people to bring vegetarian dishes [eat a 6 pm; speakers & music
at 7 pm]
MOST IMPORTANT: we need people to spread the word that Cuba is looking
for people of color to be students in their medical school. Students
receive six years of free tuition, free books, free housing and free
meals with the only cost being a pledge to serve low income communities
when they become doctors.
Please let me know if you or your group can participate on July 13.
Thanks,
