The River des Peres is just one of many tributaries to the St. Louis
watershed that have moved below ground into pipes. As much as 90% of
rainwater becomes stormwater runoff, while this would be the case for
only 10% of rainwater in a natural watershed. The St. Louis combined
sewers system then mixes pollutants into this runoff. Host Don Fitz and
guest Lorin Crandall, of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment,
discuss local watershed issues. This Green Time (No. 348) is produced
by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KDHX. Call 314-727-8554 or
contact fitzdon at aol.com for info.
