Extraction of oil from tar sands is one of the biggest environmental 
disasters in world history, whether or not a pipeline flows through the 
US.St. Louis needs to strengthen public transportation; but efforts are 
being blocked largely due to class and racial issues.Changing 
construction so that homes are more compact can pave the way for solar 
and wind power.The most basic change of all is reconceptualizing how to 
use urban space.Many citizens are challenging corporations that stand in 
the way.
