Hi.
nyc.indymedia.org is now on a new server, squids are updating to get pages
from it. There was about 5 minutes of downtime associated with this, at
around 2am US/Eastern. The new machine has 4G of ram, 2x3GHz P4's. Great
io performance.
WARNING: any changes you make on edna and expect to see take effect will
not work for the foreseeable future! You need an account on kaiiontwako.
You can either contact myself or pabs (who's on approximately the opposite
time schedule as me, both of us should be idling in #tech on irc.indy) to
get an account.
Note:
I couldn't get John Duda's caching stuff to work, but the server is taking
the load we're giving it just fine so far (load average: 0.11, 0.09, 0.06
- although this is at 3am US/Eastern). John, if you can help us get that
stuff going on again, it would add another layer of protection against any
dos or legitimate overloading we might see, not to mention make pages load
faster. Sorry I horked up your work... The entire webtree from 3 days ago
is there now, and from what I see on edna nothing much's changed since
then, so it seems like it's just a matter of launching a script or adding
a cronjob.
