I just finished talking with espe about some ideas for docs/RT and
IRCd replacement.

The things we talked about were:

. using judi
judi is a 4u dual 800mhz machine that is doing nothing
we can't put this machine in the colo in california (they only take
1u and 2u boxes...), the machine wouldn't be in san francisco for
another couple of weeks and then would need to be fit into a smaller
box and even then would not really meet the requirements for docs.
  recommendation: sell the machine

. che
che is a 700mhz pentium pro with some memory problem and some scsi
problem, it is a very loud box. we think that instead of trying to
solve these problems for a machine that is underpowered and very old,
it should be sold for whatever we can get (probably no more than $100)

. 1u
espe has a 1u that he can build out a debian install that is not
very powerful, need to get more specs from him. the SFIMC has a
6megabit DSL line in their downtown office that this machine could
be put in. we can see how the latency and stability of this DSL is
and then decide if it is good enough to put IRCd there. the office
is not used often, so it would probably be fine.

. use IMC tech funds
spend < $1,000 and buy a decent 2u box with a gig of memory, some big
IDE disks, and some decent processors and then put this machine into
the colo where che was, make this the docs/RT server

. sell kropotkin
sell this machine and put the money towards buying the docs
  machine

Just some ideas that we talked about that i wanted to get out to the
list, thoughts?
